weekly write up 9/8/2024

trainerlyrayou would think that after doing this for (checks notes) FIFTEEN WEEKS i would remember what i title these. the answer is i have to look it up every week.
monday: labor day! day off! i got to wake up to some friends having a sleepover:
kyle loves doing this lol. it's really very cute. i'm a fan. anyway, i got to wake up late and stay in bed for a hot minute, and then i... ??? honestly. i don't remember much about monday. i think i did some writing, signed up for folgers flash - which if you didn't know, it's the incest flash exchange event that's hosted on ao3 - uhhh. genuinely what did i do all day. played genshin? played zzz? bought volumes 3+4 of 7th time loop? it was such a boring day LOL just a nice relaxing day off. there really wasn't much going on... i did not have a mental breakdown, though i was very exhausted and had to move my nail appointment to the next day. but yeah monday just kinda happened?
oh i did clean the table and take out the bathroom trash. LOL i really need to be better about taking notes throughout the week for my own sanity... if my planner says nothing, i got nothing.
tuesday:
it was my birthday! i turned 28, how not exciting haha. as i said last time i had the day off (though it wasn't paid, which kinda sucks), and the day started out pretty fun. my best friend red hosted a wild birthday MEP for me, the most chaotic thing i've ever seen... and the funniest part was that they PRANKED ME INTO EDITING FOR MY OWN BIRTHDAY LMAO. i have been (unfortunately) obsessed with the song espresso, which they were using for my birthday, and at some point someone in a chat i was in mentioned wanting to edit it to which i said "god i wanna edit this song so bad" (which is true), and red saw that and apparently felt bad LOL so they MADE AN ENTIRE FAKE SERVER, waited a full few days so the dates LOOKED legit, asked me to be a backup part, and had me. straight up. edit for my OWN BIRTHDAY LMAO. and they went so hard with the joke, missy sent her finished part in, red was sending wips, jo MADE A WHOLE ASS FAKE PART TO SEND so i didn't suspect anything. highest class prank i've ever seen LOL. kyle was also apparently supposed to be in it but couldn't find time to edit without me seeing it LOL but the whole thing was just super fuckin fun. mep in question, of course, i have to show it:

in all honesty, i really do have the most wonderful friends. it's hard to believe i've known some of them for so many years all because we all, like, wanted to edit pokemon characters being in love LOL. genuinely crazy to me. this day could've been the worst day of the year and i still would've felt so, so loved by everyone. red i know you're reading this - i love you very much!!!
anyways what else. the day went by pretty slowly? i played video games for awhile - had to collect my birthday rewards, of course, the zzz one was honestly really adorable?
i love the zzz sibs way more than i should. also, crazy that i have every single birthday cake so far in genshin... i really have been playing since launch......... anyways. other things. we were gonna go to karaoke for my birthday, but kyle wasn't feeling 100% and had to work late, so we bagged that idea and should be going THIS week instead. instead, my day was like... gaming. went to go get my nails done, which was honestly such an ordeal bc they stuck me with this newer tech, which i absolutely don't mind! if they know how to do what i am requesting LOL. she kept trying to tell me that bc i needed tips, i shouldn't do dip powder, which is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard? i've been doing dip powder on a monthly basis since 2021.... there have been plenty of broken nails that needed tips in that time......... but because she was new (and kept trying to fight me on it) it took. two and a half hours. for regular solid color dip nails......................... sigh.
anyways then i got home. received my copy of the lout of count's family:

fun birthday present from seven seas! though i am still really NOT used to hearing "lout" rather than "trash". i've seen it abbreviated TCF for so long it was very jarring LOL. as suspected, i am shipping choi han/cale a lot. i knew this would happen. other things also... oh since we didn't end up doing karaoke, kyle and i got indian takeout and started a mystery box i've had for awhile! an old friend who unfortunately kinda dipped sent these to me for christmas a year or so back, and i LOVE these sorts of things but its hard to get kyle in the mood lol. so i used the birthday excuse. we're almost done with it, i discovered i am very good at these and have been having a LOT of fun. i think i want to get more of these and then give them away since they're single use.
honestly, it was a perfectly reasonable day? i just. have a lot of trouble with my birthday, i think, still. it's always just a reminder that i'm like. not at all prepared to be here? anyways, that was my birthday. i survived another year! but at what cost, really.
wednesday: back to work i go! i had a coworker today, courtesy of kyle:
lmao. anyway, work was... fine? i'm picking up on stuff quickly for the most part. my supervisor overall seems very pleased with my work so far, which is really all that matters i suppose. wednesday kyle went to bed real early, since he still wasn't feeling 100%, so i mostly just did my own thing. which is fine! playing video games, editing, writing, reading... it was all perfectly reasonable. i got a belated birthday gift in the form of an amiami package:
AMUTO!! i absolutely love them, really. they've been one of my all time favorite ships since i was... 10? 11? the manga, mind you. the anime was a fucking hot mess. but when i saw all this new amuto merch (i think because of the sequel series beginning serialization?), i jumped. also, box of cute jjk figures, but i'm not keeping most of them lol i just wanted sukufushi. gojo is going to leo, yuuji is going to jason, nanami & nobara i will sell probs.
i also pulled for seth in zzz, who i got first pull lol:
it's crazy that he and alhaitham share a VA. they don't sound similar really! he's a great VA. it's also crazy the amount of pulls i have saved in zzz because i have only pulled on the lim banners, like, uh, 4 times total so far? 5 maybe. i want lighter LOL. but yeah it was overall a super lowkey day. probably for the best, since i'm still trying to get used to some medication changes...
thursday: excitingly, jason has moved into his new apartment! but we'll get to that in a bit. work was fine, it was the stupid zoom webinar meeting day so i just... wrote and edited etc while that was on lol. as long as i still get all my work done, i can't imagine my supervisor would even know... or care lol. she's all for automation. she wants jobs to be as easy as possible for proper work/life balance, which makes me nervous bc i've been burned so many times but also very hopeful lol. but anyways, after work since i was meeting kyle over at j's, i decided to play some genshin for a bit. but, uh, kyle's pc blue screened on me! so then bc he is so sick of his electronics failing (genuinely, he is the most cursed person i have ever met in my life when it comes to technology) i decided i would figure it out & fix it if possible. super fun:
i did a few tests, a few repairs, and a bit of cleaning up and i determined that it was probably a graphics driver. more on that later in the week. anyways, i then used some birthday money to take an uber to j's new place.
the place is wicked nice?? it's two floors, they have an indoor AND outdoor balcony/porch thing, a whole ass extra bedroom that they're making into their tabletop gaming room, and the bedrooms are no longer shoebox sized! importantly, creature is having a blast. she was zooming all over the place, trying to steal food, being a gremlin as per usual. we were all worried about how the move would go, but she adjusted in no time:
the house itself is obviously very wip. have a, uh, creature on an unbuilt ikea table ft. kyle's leg lol. oh, and quinn, one of j's roommates bought pumpkin spice oreos? they were shockingly good. i'm kinda mad about it. anyways, we watched more demon slayer and got some food as tradition goes. for dinner we got shake shack (so i had, uh, a peach shake and fries):
nothing better than dipping fries in a milkshake, y'all can argue with a wall. the peach milkshake was GOOD. anyways, thursday was pretty good all things considered! probably the best day of the week lol.
friday: gotta get down on friday..... what did i even do friday. i worked, it was a surprisingly busy day of work? i mean there was just a lot to do - not that i minded, i genuinely enjoy that type of work. read some more, edited a birthday mep part for a friend, oh right, kyle woke up REALLY not good mentally that day, but ended up having a pretty good day after getting some food and we chatted while i worked for awhile. he wants to do a big get together near the end of the year for like, a whole weekend with everyone which i think is a good idea albeit very ambitious as a lot of our friends work retail. i'll do my best to help him set it up tho - and by that i mean i will likely handle all logistics once he picks something lol.
i scheduled my covid booster, which is good. it's going around again something fierce, if they're opening up the free covid tests again lol. kyle got home kinda late, and by that i mean he got home at like 5:30ish but stayed in his car for, uh, two whole hours talking to a friend LOL. which is fine, this is the friend that had the suicide scare earlier this year so he's still obviously going through it a bit. when he came in he saw me totally dead because i had neglected to make food or buy groceries so we ordered a pizza and just relaxed all night LOL. i tried to write even tho it didn't go particularly well. flash fic exchanges are fun, but i never seem to get something i fully jive with? oh well.
all in all pretty average day, which honestly? did you notice i didn't have a single bad mental breakdown the whole week?? because i sure as hell did LOL. so that's. good. even if the current med situation gives me a headache every single evening and makes me want to rip my brain out of my skull lmao. oh i also talked to a few people about ketamine therapy. gonna try and get that set up. which reminds me, i need to fill out the stuff for my next consultation...
saturday: kind of a weird day! we were maybe gonna go out for lunch with my dad & his wife, but that didn't end up happening for a variety of reasons. my dad wasn't feeling well, his wife wasn't feeling well, and kyle had a cookout thing to go to. he offered for me to come but i'm glad i didn't bc he was out like alllll day. anyways.
so he left around 11:30ish to go hang out with will and quinn (will's roommate quinn not jason's roommate quinn LOL) for a bit and then at 3 he had his cookout thing. this is a guy who he lived close to growing up, who actually taught him how to skate! gave him his first slalom deck and everything back then. he ended up moving to germany, but he's pretty good about keeping in touch so kyle was happy to see him. apparently, nobody at the party knew each other - they all just knew his friend LOL. one couple kyle was talking to apparently had met the guy YESTERDAY bahaha. i love his energy. one day i would love to meet him. just not a cookout lasting from 3-8 pff.
meanwhile, i played my games, cleaned my closet!!!! my clothes closet not my. merch closet. but still!! watched the rest of the pokemon horizons batch that was on netflix, and wrote half my folgers flash fic. i also speed edited a part, which the mep it was in came out so beautifully:
whenever i need to speed edit, i always revert to datastorm. i just know them so well haha. if the 30 or something fics and way too many edits wasn't enough of a tip-off.... in all honesty tho this was really fun to edit. i enjoyed it quite a lot.
kyle was really not feeling well when he got home, he thought he had like food poisoning or something, so i mostly took care of him until he went to sleep. groceries came late, but they DID come! i ended up doing more of an easy/snack grocery run this time around bc i had not been eating enough... and neither had he, really. side note, btw? those fuckin like. kettle corn pop chips?? are SO good, oh my god. i'm obsessed with them.
and then i was?? weirdly tired, too, so i went to bed at 2am instead of my normal 3-5am. does that mean i slept any better? god no
sunday: and that brings us to today! i got a whole 5.5 hours of sleep which is a stellar improvement over what it's been. i stayed in bed for a bit just relaxing, then got up and banged out the rest of my folgers flash fic. had a lot of fun with it, i'll be sure to share it here... i've been thinking about that a lot actually, i think i will end up sharing fics as i publish them here instead of just scraps or old things that never got uploaded? idk i just write SO MUCH and i'm gonna be linking bingo fics etc anyways so. i think i might try to do that, at least for event fics, and also maybe do a wip wednesday kinda thing. i have a lot to show LOL. anyways!
at like 11:30 i finally checked in on kyle who was still asleep.... he still felt awful, so i brought him some small breakfast and water and just hung out with him in bed for awhile. he kinda drifted in and out while i read more lout of count's family. once he fully fell back asleep i just let him sleep and came back out to the living room to play genshin and finish the natlan archon quest up, which i did. i... hm. i feel like. it was a little lackluster at the end? but it's clearly setting up for something so we shall see, i guess!
at around idk 3ish i made lunch and just kinda puttered around for a hot minute, not really doing too much. then kyle woke up, ate the food i'd made and i hung back out with him in bed for awhile while i kept reading and he looked at dumb shit on his phone lol. eventually he got up and we ended up playing scribbl.io with friends for awhile. i won twice by like, a WIDE margin LOL i love that game, but lost badly the third round when will took over for jorie since she was heading to bed. then i started writing this and kyle worked on music for a bit before he headed to bed, and now we are here!
last week's goals? did i finish my book? ... no, but i've only got about 75 pages to go.... did i have a good birthday? i mean, i guess, for the most part yes? so that counts. maybe lol.
hopes for next week, i think this week will just be to finish both my cuppaJOE & pine4pine exchange fics. they're both halfway done, hopefully, lord knows i tend to write more than necessary in every situation ever....
